Installing SensorControl

This section describes how to install SensorControl.

Before you start, check that you have the following items at hand:

  • The NIRONE sensor.

  • A suitable measurement PC, which has a compatible operating system, such as Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10.

  • A USB cable, Type A – Micro-B.

  • The Spectral Engines SensorControl software installation package. Separate software packages are available for 32- and 64-bit versions of Windows.

    You can download the software from Downloads.

    Tip:

    Unzip the .zip file before installation. Do not install the software directly from the ZIP file.

Note:

Do not connect the sensor to the computer before the Spectral Engines Sensor Control software has been installed.

During the installation, the Windows Security will possible notify that it cannot verify the publisher of the software. Ignore this alert by selecting Install this driver software anyway, to continue installation.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Download and run the setup.exe for the Spectral Engines SensorControl software.

    Wait until the SensorControl software, drivers and documents have been installed.

  2. Connect the sensor to the computer with the USB cable.

    The system automatically prompts you to search for the required drivers.

    You can find the drivers in the SensorControl installation folder.

  3. Optional: If the system does not prompt you to search for the required drivers, install the drivers manually:
    1. Open Windows Device manager.

      An unidentified device called LPC is listed under the Other devices category.

    2. Right-click this item and select Update Device driver….
    3. In the pop-up window, select Browse my computer for driver software.
    4. Select the SensorControl software installation folder, and select the USB driver subfolder.

      Default path is C:\Program Files\Spectral Engines\USB Driver.

    5. Select Next.
  4. When the driver installation is complete, the sensor will show up in Windows Device Manager under Ports (COM & LPT).

    The sensor name is LPC13xx USB VCom Port.

  5. The SensorControl software is ready for use.
