The process phases are described in the sections below.

Feasibility Evaluation

The purpose of feasibility evaluation is to find out whether spectral scanning is the correct solution for the customer's application requirements. During the evaluation, the customer fills in a questionnaire that helps us to analyze, delimit and specify the exact requirements for the material sensing solution.

The result of the feasibility evaluation is our expert insight on the feasibility of using spectral scanning to meet the customer's application requirements.

Typically, feasibility evaluation lasts for one to two weeks.

Measurements and Algorithm Development

If the result of feasibility evaluation was that spectral scanning meets the customer's application requirements, the NIRONE Scanner development process moves on to the measurements and algorithm development phase.

In this phase, the customer gathers samples representing the required spectral measurement range. Sometimes, samples are also collected from the non-typical measurement range. The amount of the samples depends of the complexity of the measurement application, but is typically 200—1000.

We will provide the LabScanner setup to the customer for library sample measurements. The setup consists of two computers and eight NIRONE Devices. Eight samples can be measured simultaneously, and each sample will measured with each device. Typically, 20 samples can be processed in a working day. When the measurements are done, they are sent to the Spectral Engines sample database.

The Spectral Engines algorithm team analyzes and investigates the sample measurement data, and creates the measurement algorithm. This algorithm will be tested and validated, before it is released for the piloting phase. A test report is written at this stage of the process.

Typically, the measurements and algorithm development phase lasts for one to two months.

Piloting

In the piloting phase, the customer makes field measurements with the algorithm, using NIRONE Devices and NIRONE Scanner App. With these measurement results, Spectral Engines can carry out the final material library verification. Another test report is written at this stage of the process.

Typically, the piloting phase lasts for one to three months.

Solution Development and Solution Validation

In the solution development and solution validation phase, we can develop the material sensing solution even further, by customizing user interfaces and measurement hardware, certifying and validating the solution, and so on.
